Equipment
There is no charge for the use of classroom or checkout equipment
for academic classes. An academic class is defined as a class
that has a course number in the course catalog during the regular
school year. There is a charge for equipment for all other events.
This includes summer session classes and classes that do not
have a course number in the catalog (see rate sheet).
Delivery and Setup
There is a charge for delivery and setup of equipment
for academic classes (see rate sheet). There
is always a charge for delivery for any events other than academic
classes (see
rate sheet).
Media Assistance
There is no charge for one-time or occasional
on-site or in-office demonstrations of media equipment for academic
classes by student media assistants or permanent Media Services
staff. If ongoing assistance from permanent Media Services staff
is needed there is an hourly charge for the staff time (call
for quote). This assistance can only be provided if there
are staff available for the time and date requested (see Deadlines
for Ordering Assistance below).
Because we have a limited number
of student assistants available and most of our classrooms are
user-operable, student media assistants will normally only be
assigned to the largest classes with very complex media usage.
Deadlines for Ordering Delivery or Assistance
In order to assure quality service to all classes,
all academic class requests for delivery or assistance must be
received by Media Service at least two working days before the
event. If the request is for an equipment demonstration, we will
attempt to fill the job with one day's notice but we cannot guarantee
that we will have staff available on that short notice. If a charge
is required for a service you need to have the recharge number
and the name of you financial assistant ready when you call or
we will not be able to take the order.
Equipment can always be picked up by the instructor
from the Media Checkout Facility with no advance notice but it
is strongly recommended that you reserve equipment that you intend
to pick up as far in advance as possible since certain items in
our inventory are booked very heavily at various time during the
quarter. Also, a few of the items in our inventory are only available
when delivered by our staff and may not be checked out over the
counter.
The Media Services Equipment Checkout Facility is
located at Kerr Hall 149 and is open 8-12 and 1-5. Call 459-2117
to reserve equipment or request assistance. Call 459-5858 for
immediate assistance if classroom equipment is not working properly
and your class is under way or just about to start. 9-5858 is
always answered and does not roll over to voicemail. If you have
any other business, please call 9-2117 so that we can keep 9-5858
free for classroom emergencies. |
