Distance Education & Videoconferencing
Get web
archiving set up for my class?
Web Archiving is set up for classes through our Instructional Development
Specialist Sheryl Martin-Schultz at smschult<
at >ucsc.edu or via phone at 831-459-5790. Web Archiving
is the process by which a class session is recorded on video and
digitized on a computer for later playback through a web browser.
The process typically includes video, audio, and the data projection
materials from a course (including PowerPoint files) combined and
presented on the web for viewing by students at any time. UCSC Media
Services is the sole provider of this service on campus and more
information may be found here.
Check Distance Education and
Videoconferencing Room Calendars?
Media Services has an online Distance Education room calendar located
here
and a Videoconferencing Room Calendar located here.
If you have problems viewing the calendars, please contact Matt
Norwood at 831-459-3977 or via e-mail at norwood<
at >ucsc.edu. Please be specific
and indicate which web browser (e.g. Netscape 7.0, Internet Explorer
6.0, etc.), type of computer (e.g. Dell Precision 330 PC, Apple
PowerMac G4, etc.), and operating system (Mac OS 9.2.2, Mac OS X,
Windows 2000 Professional, etc.) you were using when the problem
occurred.

Obtain
faculty authorization for use of media equipment for a class?
A signed Faculty Authoization Form is required for students using
Media Services equipment for course projects. A separate Faculty
Authorization Form is required for each academic course in which
media equipment is needed and is only valid for the duration of
one academic quarter. You will need to bring the signed Faculty
Authorization Form with you when coming to check out media equipment.
If it is not possible to get the Faculty signature prior to your
check out date, you must provide the signed, completed form to
Media Services either before or when you return the equipment.
Failure to do so may result in you being billed for the use of
the equipment on a daily basis.
You may visit our Classrooms page
to obtain a downloadable Faculty Authorization Form PDF file, or
you may download the printable PDF version of the form directly
from here.
